Elizabeth Taylor & Ascend

Ascend was very fortunate to be chosen, in the middle of 2008,  to supply the shag pile merino wool carpet for Elizabeth Taylor’s house via Westwood Carpets in Beverly Boulevard. Around 175 square yards of natural white merino wool shag pile product was used in the shoe room, dressing room and parts of the living area.  The Bambino II was installed in ‘The Shoe Closet’.

Shortly before Elizabeth Taylor’s death in March 2011, Catherine Opie, an iconic US photographer, was given unprecedented access to her house in Bel Air, on 700 Nimes Road. This body of work titled ‘700 Nimes Road’ included a book and a set of 50 large prints. These were taken over the course of six months and showed intimate details of the rooms, clothes, jewelry, and furnishings of the famous actress.

See below some stunning photos from Catherine Opie’s work, also featured in Vogue’s article from 2017, of Ascend’s merino wool carpet in the late Elizabeth Taylor’s home.
